Gauge Mechanical/Electric best choice

Just one qustion about gauges: I want to install a fuel press gauge to take an eye on it (i have a 99 ctd with the famous VP44); I have found mechanical and electric gauge, what's the differences? what's best for my truck? (I saw that mechanical are much expensive than electr.) what's the easy-install?
thanks to all guys.

both are easy to install, mech. are cheaper and from what i heard last longer. some people use an isolator i have not. i just ran a small needle valve just in case it leaks and to also cut down on the pulses. electric you tap a hole thread a sender then run your wires, but some gauges cant take the pulsating and fail. i chose the mech. because if it fails there much easier to replace, no wires and Hella cheaper. $40 compared to 150 or so.

I chose the Quadzilla Commander. For about $300 you get 4 gauges displayed simultaneously, with alerts, custom defueling aprameters, and min/max data. It monitors more than 4 things, but you can display 4 at a time.... It also controls some chips/modules.

thanks a lot! I want a fuel press gauge that mount in a single pillar pod and I'll monitor the other parameters with a Commander, I'll get it for next mod very soon. 1 gauge only because I like the single pod, only for this, dont like the 3pod pillar because i think its too much restrictive of drive view...
I have a stock truck, I'm waiting my EDGE EZ next week and plan on exehaust and intake.... fuel press gauge 0-30 psi can fit my ride? or 0-60 0-100...

30 psi gauge should take care of it for a VP44.

From what I have noticed, mechanical gauges usually have a 270* sweep and electric gauges have a 120* sweep. I like the larger sweeps since there are more graduations and more movement in the needle.

Typically, mechanical gauges are cheaper as well.

YOu don't need the isolator.

After running other options, I'm now using a cheapie $20 Jegs 1.5" mechanical gauge-- it's worked the best, and does so at very low cost.
