Gauge install
Gauge install
My gauges have been sitting in a shoebox in my room for a while now , and i finally got around to ordering a pod for them monday night , it arrived from piers this morning (that is fast service if you ask me).
Anyways , i have a couple questions. Where did you guys route the tubing/wiring through the firewall and to the a pillar?
And how did you plumb in the tranny temp sender? i don't want to eliminate the stock sensor , or do i?
Any other tips or tricks i should know before i start?

I dont have a tranny temp, so I cant help you there. however, I have Pyro and Boost. I ran down through the a-pillar...under the dash, and through a rubber grommet just above the brake pedal on the firewall. i had to remove the ggrommet to get probe wire through, but now I have 10 or 12 wires running through the hole. I just sealed up the hole with a little "DUM-DUM" (body sealer strips), and batta bing!!!! Batta Boom !!!!
are they mechanical gauges? The mopar gauges need momentary power for a self test in "key on". If this is the case, PM me and I will give you the PIN-OUT of the IGN switch. Thats where I went for power.
Anyways..good luck

(Same Grommet) I used a razor knife and made two 3/4" slices, side by side, that was enough room to fish everything through. Get a buddy to carefully pull your wires/tubing while you feed them.
Once you take the factory pillar off, you'll see how you can fish them down.
Follow the instructions on the pod closely, make sure you drill out the holes on the factory pillar just right so everything exits nice and smooth downward.

On your 95 the best way to install the tranny temp sensor is to put it in place of the stock sender, driver's side just ahead of the tranny on the tube going forward. Follow the wires to it. The stock sender has 3/8" threads, your new sender likely has 1/8" so you will need a bushing.
ATF will come out when you remove the stock sender, be ready to work fast and you will lose very little. By fast I mean have the new sender tightened down into the bushing and have the bushing coated with pipe sealant. I use anti-seize for sealant, you will need some for the manifold connection for your pyro anyway.
Now you will have to trick the computer into thinking the stock sender is there. Unplug the sender and jump across the wires to the computer with 1000 ohm resistor from Radio Shack - 25¢.
Do whatever you want with the stock sender, you no longer need it.

This grommet wouldn't happen to be the one where the clutch master cyl would mount? i already made a hole in that for my CB coax cable , if i can reach i'll just use that i guess.

Sorry Bill , i didn't see that post until now. Is fooling the pcm into thinking my tranny is always at 100 deg going to hurt anything? ie-when it is minus 20 and it wants to shift into o/d first thing in the morning?
I believe there is a button for that.....just have to adapt to a little differant driving style......shouldnt be using it under 45ish anyway...will make your tranny last lil longer......just a suggestion.....

I got the gauges installed today , it went pretty smooth , with some help from a buddy with some common sense (ie- asked me if he wasn't sure).
We didn't remove the turbo , but rather used a magnet to clean out the hole really good afterwards.
Everything but the tranny temp sensor has been installed , i was just waiting to hear exactly what Bill just told me. so the temp sensor will go in tomorrow.
All the gauges work good so far , boost gets to around 18-19 lbs , and EGT tops out around 900-950.
Also put in a new o/f valve today , and it cured my low rpm miss and unstable rpms (tach would wander all over).
