Gauge differences?
Gauge differences?
Can someone tell me why a fuel pressure gauge costs well over a hundred bucks while an oil pressure gauge can be had for 30 bucks? Same animal with a different face on it! Pressure is pressure be it liquid or air, fuel or oil or water. It is all pressure and yet the gauges are all different prices.

Infidel uses 6 dollar surplus gauges with good effect.

Don't forget, our Diesel is closer to oil than it is to Gas.......

I'm using a Autometer mechanical 35psi boost gauge as a fuel psi gauge it cost 54$, Autometer has no fuel pressure mechanical gauges in the 0-30 range the only option is going to a electrical gauge in this psi range and they are 200$.
I do have a small 1/8 valve on the VP acting as a snubber slightly cracked open to take out all pulses and vibrations. It takes approx 2 seconds for my guage to move.
I have had this setup for a few month now and has worked perfectly.

I have heard people say they are OK for the price, I would have bought one if I didn't have to have them shipped to Canada which nearly doubles or triples the price if shipped by UPS or Fed EX. I would be sure to use a snubber on them.
What are people using for a snubber? I am assuming buy what I a read that it is a accumulator of some sort to increase the volume of the sample taken to reduce the needle on the gauge from bouncing.I Have the 0-30 psi Glow Shift Gauge on a 01 with an Air Dog. Sending unit is 3/4 the way to the VP44 in a 1/2 line that comes with the Air Dog. It have no bounce or flutter. I have no "Snubber" installed.

You have your sending unit far enough away from the VP to not see any shock. I wanted to get my psi reading after the filter so I can tell when to change the filter.
