Funny dyno numbers
Well I got her dynod again last week. And did a little better. But still really hightorque compared to hp..
410 hp and 1015 tq.
I m not upset, just cant figure out why my truck has so much torque .I look thrue all of the 400 + hp numbers on other guys trucks and most are around 900 or so.
It was a mustang again but the guy ran it 5 times and assured me the numbers were correct. Hes not a big diesel guy but has been biulding hot rods for sometime now......
And the looks on the other guys face was priceless
He was in there with a really fixed up nova. It was great....

I didn't see a turbo in your sig, so that may have a little to do with it. When I dynoed my setup with the stock turbo vs the Super B I lost some tq and gained sone hp. But, this still won't explain that big of a difference. I'm sure that a few folks with more dyno knowledge will get on here and help you out more.

Also, what tire size do you have, and what gear did you make your pulls in? That can change you numbers too.

Your numbers show that your peak torque was at 2120rpm. My '02 motor is very similar with a modest sized single or my towing twins. If I change to a larger primary, my torque peak goes up to around 2400. Nothing wrong with your numbers at all.
mustang dynos also load the truck/engine therefore pouring alot more fuel to the fire, and will make more torque as it overcomes the load. on a dynojet there is only the resistence from the weight of the roller, so you will get lower tq numbers.
on 24 valve engines the TQ is right at doubled, but with a 12 valve, it isnt uncommon to see them at 1000 ft lbs at just over 400 horses..

I thought that when the Dyno registers the hp and torque, the torque was related to the hp. What I mean is that they actually register hp and then figure torque from that.
Dose this make sense? Also they only seem to be going to 60 miles per hour from what I could see that is. I maybee misunderstanding how a dyno works.
And yes I am still running the stock turbo. I have been waiting to get my head done. I now have a little leak at the front of my motor just under the head. Its time!!!

Hey ph4tty I didnt know you had that big turbo. How is it. And hows your head gasket?
And I just read that whole thing and
.
Really I just think the two times I have had my truck dynod the guy's figgured it wrong.
Well as soon as I get my head done I am going to dyno again but this time ona Dyno jet and compare.
My tires are 265's and Im not sure what gear. Does it say it somewhere on my print out.?

The gasket is holding so far, but I don't run high boost every day. The 64 is slow to reach 10 lbs but takes off from there.
If/when you swap turbos expect a higher hp # and a lower torque reading. BTW most dynos are run in direct drive, but dynojets use overdrive for diesels.
