Fuel Press. Gauge question

I'm looking at getting a set of Autometer Phantom II gauges (fuel press., boost, and egt), mainly for the way they look, otherwise I'd go with Isspro. Anyways, I had a buddy tell me that the electric fuel pressure gauges don't last that long because the pulsation from the fuel actually wears the electronic sending unit out and said that you need some kind of "snubber." Didn't know if I should believe him or not....hes one of those guys that doens't work on much, he just reads alot:) Is this true, or will it work ok? Also, does anyone sell the autometer gauges I'm looking at in a kit with all the needed wiring? I know puredieselpower.com does, but they don't have a kit with the Phantom II's.

We run Isspro's with the mechanical gauge and yes the pulsations from the injection pump can be hard on electrical parts. Here you can find snubbers and shut off valves that will stop the pulsations.I have a shut off valve that is simular to one on a garden hose but 1/8 NPT and i crack it just enough to get pressure without the pulsations

Has anyone heard of this?

I use an Isspro mechanical Fuel Presure gauge as most members that use(d) electriconic gauges report frequent failures of the senders due to engine vibrations.
I also use a needle valve http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/6MN31 as a snubber to prevent "buzzing" in the gauge due to injection pump pulses.

my '99 filter canister is different from your 2002 so your hook up will be in a different location. ;)

I eliminated my filter canister when I installed the FASS system. I was gonna get a pressure port fitting from performancedieselwarehouse that I can install inline. Anyone else have a suggestion? I havn't heard to many people have problems with the electric sending units on the edge juice w/attitudes, so I thought an electronic gauge would work ok. If not, I might just save myself some money and go with a isspro gauge set. I do like the way those phantom II's look though;)

oops, sorry, powerbypoole is where I was gonna get the pressure port fitting.

You can also get a fitting from:

Here is how EEP did my fuel pressure gauge on my FASS which is installed on my 12v.The tapped into the port located on the FASS unit and ran push lok hose from there up to a fitting they have designed to hold the electric sender. They mounted the sender as you can see on the firewall amd ran the wires inside to the guage. Then we just installed the guage on the top of the steering wheel until I can find a steering column mount(seems most are out of them for the second gens or they are back ordered). The fitting they used to hold the sender is one they stock at their shop. This setup will give you your pressure at the Pump where it is more accurate.......Andy
