Bottom of the fuel filter is correct too...
- OR - Using Vulcan big Line Kit -With low pressure switch..
Both are corect installs of fuel pressure gauge, needle valve, etc...

Its the same pressure. The line at the bottom of the filter goes directly to your injection pump inlet, which is where DodgeCowboy has his connected.

But the new kits are changed they have a fitting in the elbow to allow hooking your gauge directly to the VP44 or fuel filter...
But I would suggest stay by the filter there is less pulses. The filter housing dampens some of the pulses that the VP44 creates...

I have had mine on the test port for awhile now and i have 0 pulses. Couple of causes for pulsing is the lack of a needle valve to dampen it, metal hoses seem to make it pulse. In my case i have a liquid filled gauge nd that seems to really help with the pulses too.

I would highly recomend putting a needle vavle inline even with a digital gauge and open it just enough to give presure readings. A sending unit will blow out rather fast on the cummins if you don't install the vavle. Don't ask me how i know.

I'm not sure why more guys don't jsut get liquid filled guages with an integral snubber??????? A snubbers sole purpose is to dampen any fluid pulses.........
my FP guage along with all my hydraulic test guages in my toolbox from 15psi to 6000psi all have snubbers............its basically an orfice in the guage fitting.......all mine are 1/4" male NPT on the guage.........the subber is a .020" orfice...........I should get a picture. no needle valves or isolators or anything else required. put the guage in the circiut and go..........

A needle valve works just as well as a snubber plus has the advantage of being able to turn it off in case of a leak.

I would imagine that most people prefer a lighted automotive style guage...I do like your setup though.
