fp gauge electric on mech.
fp gauge electric on mech.
I know you all say mech. is the way to go and I totaly agree but the gauges I like ( auto meter) don't have a fp that measures the correct range they have a 0-8 or 0-100 in mech. I am looking 0-30ish. and they have that in electric so before I make a mistake I thought I'd put it out there for debate. thanks
that's what i thought i would hear .how about a 15psi. with a isolator #4311

I wasted my money on an electrical fp just like Blue, three senders later did what I should have done from the start and went mechanical.
Why have a gauge that fails more than the system it's supposed to monitor?
If you don't mind the gauge saying boost on it they are availible in 30 and 40 psi and will work just fine. I've read of some crafty guys popping the glass off, blacking out the boost and painting in fuel.
I personally use just a regular water pressure gauge with no lighting. Mine is mounted way low, bottom of the dash by the 4wd shifter. It's not a gauge you need to look at much, doesn't really need to be in the A piller.
15 psi would be marginal, you really want a gauge that mostly reads in the middle of the scale, 30 is ideal.
If you decide to go with the Autometer skip the isolator, just one more thing that goes wrong and serves no purpose on a diesel.

I've got the Autometer electic guage seems to work good. I had it on for about 15 min. saved me $1600 on fuel pump. Also the 0-15 psi guage is useless when you keep it maxed out all the time.
Just like Shovelhead said. Isspro Marine gauge. Would suggest a needle valve shutoff tho, just in case. Gauge and 6' stainless line + needle valve available as a kit from Rod at Wildcat for about $100.

My Hewitt 0-30psi mechanical gauge from Enterprise Engine is working VERY well. No leaks of any kind, even running fuel right to the gauge.
The lighting is good, too.
Just do yourself a favor and ditch the isolator.

The electric units, just don't seem to hold up well to the environment under the hood. We are using Di-Pricol gauges with a 0-30psi range with 0-5psi red-lined. These gauges need to be used with an isolator to keep fuel out of the cab.
