Re:Flowmaster exhaust system

Oh I know that. But KATOOM said that NO motor needs back pressure which isn't true.

Back to the exhuast question! You guys are like a bunch of old ladies gabbing!

I just put a DPP 4" system on my truck from turbo to the back, the sound is sweet! Fit and Finish was perfect, slid right in like it was made at the factory, (I was very surprised). Ordered mine from WILDCAT DIESEL PERFORMANCE. I am very happy with my set up. 8)

Re:Flowmaster exhaust system

Since I just removed my muff (no pun intended) I can try to throw my 2 cents in....

At May Madness - I bought a muff elimination kit. So from my resionator (4 inches) the conversion brings down to a 3'' then reconnects with my exhaust pipe.
I was expecting a BARK BARK WOOF WOOF sound - one that will make your heart beat funny when reved up. He now sounds like a hollow version of what he used to sound like.

I am gathering from the previous posts that there is an issue with the conversion that I just put on. On my stock truck, it seems to do just fine, and at Crusing speed, (in my opinion) performs much nicer.

Care to show it off by posting a couple pics? I for one would like to see it. A 4" system is definitely in my truck's future.

Show me an engine that requires back pressure. ???
I've been building engines for years and NEVER have I run into a high performance builder that will restrict his or her exhaust to get "back pressure". Thats a cardinal sin! If anything they think of every possible way to get the exhaust out in the least restrictive maner. The factorys may build an exhaust setup in compliance with smog or noise regulation but not for power reasons. Now when you talk about intake and exhaust ports on naturaly asperated engines then you can involve the word back pressure but only for the reason of velocity. Anything blown or turboed is a whole different way of building.

Re:Flowmaster exhaust system

I think we're on different tracks. I was talking naturally aspirated. When you said any motor, I thought you meant naturally aspirated as well. Sorry for the confusion.

Our trucks want NO backpressure. That's why you can run straight pipe with no restriction and be just fine. I don't care bout performance gain. I just want the sound. ;D

Your truck or car NEEDS back pressure! Doesnt matter if you run a small motor I4 or a 572 ci motor doesnt matter if you have a Diesel BB your truck even has backpressure even tho you think its straight pipe there is still some pressure. If you dont have backpressure then you can and WILL burn the valves. My dad told me so and my dad knows cars and knows racing. (its in our blood) ;D

Re:Flowmaster exhaust system

With all due respect for your father, it was said right "our trucks want no back pressure" the back pressure issues are taken care of between the valves and the turbo. Removing back pressure from a naturally asperated engine would burn valves unless the fuel ratio is restored. A lean engine will burn valves. Boy, all them years of running open headers at the track, never knew that I was slowing the car down.
