EZ instead of the Smarty???
Humm.... ok so enlight of the new dyno numbers and track times with the smarty, would it be better to run an ez instead of the smarty???
What i mean is, if stack my dad's ez with my tst pm3 comp, would i get higher hp and faster times than with the tst pm3 comp and smarty?
Give me some facts here on the smarty and why the times are slower with it and no hp gains are seen.
Or what about the tst pm3 comp/ez/smarty on sw# 8?

I would go with the Van aaken V5 and
stack with the TST. I've had the EZ ,
Van Aaken V5 and now the Smarty. The
Van Aaken pulled the hardest with the
most power down low. That being said
I know the Smarty is a work in progress
and hope to see refined updates in the future.
I just miss my Van Aaken right now

Thanks for the response
the ez would be really cheap
But thats not really the answer i was looking for I'd like to know if i would see a difference at the track with the ez instead of the smarty. (or the van aaken)
I'd really really like a box that was similar to the ez or the van aaken that DIDN'T have timing! is there such an animal??

Why would you want another box without
timing ? The TST PM3 has no timing. To get
good off idle throttle response and turbo spool-up
you need to advance the timing in addition to adding
extra fuel. The aggressive timing advance of the
Van Aaken prevents the "bog" when you hammer the
throttle. Oh yeah, and the Van Aaken is the cheapest
of all three And no I don't sell or work for the
Van Aaken co

Can't you have TST mod your box to fuel even harder? That way you could have the Smarty timing that people rave about, and more fuel wherever you want it. (If I am correct in thinking that TST will custom program a box for you.)

Go to the track or get some time in on the dyno and do some testing and report back =P I bet you can come to a lot of good conclusions with an hour of tuning.

And the ez would be cheaper because its DAD'S and i could cut him a load of wood for it

Hey Ph4tty, id love to take her to the dyno and track. But the only track around here is in rodgersville. And it takes 4 hrs to make one pass.
How much would it cost to put in a 1/4 mile??? 15k?

I guess ill wait till i get it dyno'd, then change the IP to the SO pump and then see where im at.
The tst pm3 comp is rated at 180 (i think?) and i dont think they can squeez any more fuel out of the vp44! cause thats quite a bit!

I ran an EZ/TST stack for two yrs before the Smarty came out.
I have no hard #s but it may well have raced better than the Smarty/TST stack.
Remember that with a single turbo... low end overfueling can be a problem when building boost on the line. I find I now build boost faster with the Smarty on #5 than I do on #9. Since they both end up at the same power/fueling level by around 20 psi boost, sometimes less can be faster!!
There is a thread going now that says 'faster times with Smarty on #3'. This is with a big single and may make sense also.
With big injectors and a big single turbo, I always got faster times with my EZ stack when the EZ was set on mildest jumper setting.
To answer your question - "why times are slower [with Smarty]and no hp gain seen"?.....
1-Real possibility your pouring heavy fuel in too early.

Can be done... but no point in doing so! TST Competition Box is already at max fuel the VP-44 can process. In fact it a little over that level, which is why they 'shudder' on max settings.
Even the HRVP does not increase the total fuel that can be passed through the injector pump!

Could it be programmed to bring the fuel earlier? (My 12v brain is thinking a electronic version of replacing a 100 plate with a 0)

Not sure I follow you?
What your suggesting is exactly what is being done by the EZ, Smarty, Comp, Van Akken, etc.!
They all "bring the fuel earlier"

on the way home from school today, i stopped and downloaded the stock sw back to the truck. Blah! no top end. Sooo i stopped again and downloaded 8. Now my egts were hotter, but i think she ran better. (from take off, i obvisouly had no real speed because i pegged the pyro in 3rd gear)
Im going to download 9 again just so i can have the timing and (little) better egt's
