Question Exhaust system

My tail pipe has rotted away from the muffler and I found out the dealer only installs alumanized mufflers and tail pipes. I've been told that I should put stainless steel on, however the cost is quite different. Any idea's on which way I should go. I have a 1999 3/4 Quad short box 5.9. Any idea's would be greatly appreciated.

Why would you go to the dealer for a muffler? Go to a muffler shop. As far as stainless vs. aluminized, it depends on how long you plan to keep your truck. I'd say that if you plan on selling your truck within the next 5 years aluminized would be fine. If you plan on keeping it longer than 5 years go with stainless. Just my opinion.

poogan,

If you plan to keep it more than 5 years get 409 stainless, more than that get 304 stainless, aluminized will always last at least 3-5 years depending on where you live and how many miles you drive etc.

Give us a call we have all the MBRP systems, they have 100% welded hangers that makes install real easy, a true packed muffler with a ceramic blanket and stainless steel wool, and a great deep tone too.
