Exhaust Install Q:

Hi all,

I am a new owner and installing the exhaust listed in my signature below tomorrow and wondering if anyone has installed this and what if anything you can share for "I wish I had known that before I started' type info ?

I sprayed a generous amount of liquid wrench on the bolts tonight to let it penetrate over night, but they look difficult to get at and would appreciate any suggestions.

I am also looking for suggestions to next step after what is below and gauges for performance ? I think it seems to be injectors, but still learning about this subject as this is my first diesel and although the basic add more fuel and better flow for more power still remains, diesel is all pretty foreign to me.

TYIA for anything you can offer, loving reading this forum!

Piece o'cake. Everything fits perfectly on mine, took less than two hours including cutting off the old system.

I just got done doing mine tho I went in to a local header shop and had em weld and straighten everything up after I was done. While I had crawled under my truck a number of times and saw the hangers that the stock system was installed under, the Texas cowboy that owned this truck before me decided he didn't like em and removed all of them. He had welded (I guess that's what you call what he attempted to do as there was still pieces of wire from the wire feed stuck on the pipe....my girlfriend could've done a better job than that!! ) in an extension pipe as he eliminated the stock muffler and had put in a smaller one. All in all, it was an ineffective "system" and looked horrible. It was a PLEASURE putting in a new blade in my SAWZALL and cutting that garbage off...kind of satisfying after seeing what was done under there!! The guys at the header shop (Stan's Headers in Auburn, WA - GREAT place for exhaust solutions, especially in the 4 inch and larger sizes!!) were a little wide eyed upon seeing what was what but after straightening everything out, they told me that the manufacturer of my setup had screwed up a couple of things, among them they flared the wrong end of one pipe and the muffler so no matter what I could've done, it wouldn't have gone on right....they said I did the best I could with what I had. But these guys were very NICE and they did a great job fixing what I couldn't and welding up the exhaust for a nice permanent fix.
Anyways, my truck runs and sounds BETTER and I'm pretty happy with how everything wound up!! Good luck!

I used a couple of extensions a universal and a rachet to remove and install mine. It was harder to tighten up the bolts than remove them because the larger exhaust gets in the way. Good luck you will love your new exhaust

If you are worried about the bolts,, remove the band clamp that holds the elbow on the back of the turbo and take it out and then remove the bolts on a bench instead of under the truck.

The 24-valves dont have the v-band clamp its all one. I have installed 7 MBRP 4" kits and 2 5" kits and have never had one prob. Best kit I have ever used. Cut the old exhaust just in front of the axle and at the trans crossmember with a saw zaw and it will all come right out in 3 pices. Put a little WD-40 on the rubber on the hangers and they will come out easyer. Then you can reach the bolts on the turbo from under the truck or from the top its about the same. Start at the front with the new down pipe and then go back from there to the back. Get it all put together and then put the clamps on when its all the way you want it. I can do it in about 30 min by myself now that I have done it a few times. You will love the sound and it will not be too hard to put on.
