EXHAUST BRAKES
EXHAUST BRAKES
I READ THE ARTICLE EARLIER ABOUT PAC BRAKES. I WOULD LIKE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT BRAKING MY TRUCK ESPECIALLY PULLING MY BOAT. I HAVE TALKED TO 3 DIFFERENT PEOPLE WHO DO ALL THESE CD ADD-ONS. I GOT THE SAME ANSWER FROM ALL 3. EXHAUST BRAKES ARE A JOKE ON THE AUTOMATICS, BUT WORK RELATIVELY WELL ON STICKS. I HAVE AN AUTO. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME SOME MORE INSIGHT ON THESE EXHAUST BRAKES? Y'ALL KNOW HOW GREAT THE BRAKES WORK UNDER TOW ON THE PRE-02'S WITH REAR DRUMS. I NEED ALL THE HELP I CAN GET.
Re:EXHAUST BRAKES
I will be getting a pak-brake soonnnnnn, but a buddy of mine called them and asked about the auto tranny, Pac-brake "would not sell him one unless he beefed up his tranny" said it had something to do with the "lock-up" on the torque converter. ??? I will ask him again what they said. But I have heard nothing but good about the company and if they said it won't work and they won't just sell you what you don't need then your ok by my book! 8)
Re:EXHAUST BRAKES
PacBrake on an Auto works great. You will have to get a TC lockup for it to work properly. I upgraded my tranny before the PacBrake, so you might want to think about that. If you want more info, give me a PM... 8)

Re:EXHAUST BRAKES
I don't think there is a problem with it being an auto, you just need a controler to lock up the auto trany. Some will recomend the "mysterry switch", which is a very crude way of achieving lock-up. I would forgo that option and buy a controler. It will work automaticly and very smotthly, and you don't have to worry about forgeting to turn it off. I have a Pac-Brake, and i'm very pleased with it, and it's opperation. If you do go with the brake, also go with the 60# springs, the brake is not very substantal without them.
