Everybody Stand Back
Several of the "simple" things I've done to my truck were a lot harder than I thought (shocks, EZ, FP gauge, silencer ring removal). Everything seems easy after you do it once...
I've got cut up hands at the moment from unhooking my ez's MAP wire the other day. Took 20 min. just to unhook the MAP wire. Choice words were muttered.
About the only thing that was truely simple was the AFE filter, but that got yanked after a week (too frigin' loud).

all i wanted to do was change the autometer bulbs in my gauges to LEDs and it involved two runs to the hardware store and 20 minutes with tweezers removing glass from my fingers...
the simplest unplug, replug jobs take the longest...boy i cant wait to tackle the turbo and injectors (again) this weekend.

You're telling me, it took me FOREVER to get my dang windshield washer reservoir off my fan shroud. They're usually cake to get off, but mine kicked my stinkin butt BAD........not sure why it was so hard but dang I was peeved by the time it came off

Look down by the accessory drive. Bottom left front corner of the engine. It had a gray blanking cap on it. The blanking plug are just on the end of the connetor your looking for. They just keep dirt out (on these connectors anyway).

Here's a couple of pics.
The first is a wide overhead and the second is a closer look. It's the connector in the center of the pic. You can see the intake hose to the right and the top radiator hose to the left. The pics were taken over the driver's side fender.

Thank God, got my internet back. Like to send a great big, uh, thumbs up to verizon for knocking out my service for 3 weeks. Some technician crossed some wires in a control box a mile up the road, and knocked out my service that morning I was trying to install the V5. Just got it back on tonight. Whew.
Man, the v5 is awesome. I feel like such a dummy, I was staring at the diagnositic plug for about a half hour before I figured out which one it was. Plugged it in and it works great. I have officially blown all 4 doors off my buddy's 99 PSD. He drove my truck around and was impressed. Also got all my gauges installed. Very cool. Towed a 21' Mako from Salisbury to Marathon Florida last week, 1150 miles, did 70 the whole way, got 18.5 mpg and ran about 800 degrees egt usually. The v5 has made it a whole different truck, I can pass cars with authority while towing, and it is a beast right off the line. Can't believe I drove it stock all that time. I've caught several guys eyeing my gauges on the highway, could tell they were curious. I would love to put some 275's in there, but I'd blow my tranny for sure. I can promise that I would only drive it easy for about 10 seconds, the temptation to romp on it is just too great. Thanks for all yall's help and pictures, sorry it took so long to get back on here.
Yeah Big Jimmy, the trailer came down. I tried talking and coaxing, but it didn't work. Nor did cussing and threatening. I threw some rocks up there, but it just climbed higher. Had to get my 10 gauge and a load of #4 buckshot, came right down. Tore a mess of bark off the tree though.

[QUOTE=big jimmy]Now I can sleep at night- I trust the "new" truck has re-established the pecking order elsewhere around town?
Oh definitely. The most fun is when cars and other trucks come up behind me at a light, and change lanes, thinking that I'm all slow with the trailer, and I can smoke them if the mood strikes. There is also one light where the two lanes neck down to one just after the light, so all the yuppies race like hell to pass you and cram in front. Fortunately, the exhaust is on that side, and I allow them to hear it before they have to pull back in behind me. I let a big yellow hummer hear it yesterday, he decided he liked his paint better than I liked my trailer paint. The v5 is definitely the best thing I've done to the truck, makes it so much more fun to drive. Several people are wanting them now.
