Question Engine Temp. anyone?! please help.

Ok, my tranny got rebuilt and today was the first day for me to drive it, it's awesome!!! One thing though, before my tranny was rebuilt my Attitude never alerted me of engine temp, when I was out today it went off cause I guess the alert was set for 200 degrees. My question is this, what should I set the alert to, and what are safe and unsafe engine temp levels? Thanks guys!!!

I would check everything over and make sure you have enough coolant in the system. Then I would make sure the radiator is clean. Then I would turn up the setting like dieselrob said. 200 degrees isnt a big deal to these engines. I got my best fuel economy so far when it was really hot out with a plugged radiator. Ran a steady 200-220 degrees. Does this mean anything, Im not sure.

you might still have some air in the system.

I bet water temp is up just because the new tranny is puting more of a load on the engine. Turn the alert up and try to clean your radiator- probably all gunked up from blowby.
