DTT Transmissions?

Who is running a DTT with a stock intermediate? What Hp are you running what do you do with your truck, and have you had any problems out of it? How many miles do you have on it and how hard are you on the truck? Sorry for all the questions but need to know about stock intermediate shafts. Any info you can give would be great.

I don't have a 100% DTT, but I thought I would give you some feedback. Stock intermediate here. 500HP, drag racing and daily driving. Broke a couple of output shafts and welded first gear.

I had some issues, but mostly because I was trying to get away without buying the parts needed from the beginning. Live and learn.

The trans has worked flawlessly since the initial problems.

What kind of boost are you launching at? How many miles do you have on it at this power? Thanks for the input.

I was launching at 20-25 psi, but have since learned that launching at 15 psi gives me close to the same 60' times.

I only use max power at the drag strip or on the dyno. Daily driving I'm around 400hp or so.

Thank you very much for your info. Have any idea on how many miles you have on it? You have been a great help to me.

I ran a stock intermediate as well launching at about 20-25PSI. Never ran into an issue shaft stayed intact even with high HP and low ETs.

I have Billet Flex plate, input and output, stock intermediate and upgraded 3rd gear drum and a 48re valve body, about 20psi is what i launch at and probably have about 20,000 miles on it and about 15 launches im very pleased with it.

Full DTT w/ stock intermediate shaft! I installed billet shafts (input & output) 2 yrs and 65,000 miles after having full DTT rebuild. At the time DTT was recommending staying stock on the intermediate. Has worked for me.

I drag race 5-10 times a yr, launch at 15 psi, and do play hard with it on the street sometimes. Have tried harder launches but see no major advantage that offsets the added wear & tear!! I do not push it hard every day and don't tow heavy!

98,000 miles on DTT and 39,000 miles on billet shafts. Also added 3rd gear clutch pack/billet drum, new clutches, bands, o-rings and seals when billet shafts were done. Daily drive (work) around 425 hp and change tranny fluid & filter @ 20,000 miles (Intentional overkill to protect my investment). I have not had a single problem with my DTT in 3+ years. Love it.

Thanks guys, I really just needed to know about the intermediate and DTT is the only company I know that leaves them stock. I will be tearing into my trans here in the next few months and just needed some advice. Thanks for all the responses.

I have dzlfarmboys setup minus the billet flex plate. I have around 60,000 miles on a stock intermediate since the DTT rebuild and I have lost count of how many launches I have on the tranny. I usually 60 foot in the 1.72 range with a 15 pound launch unless I can get the truck to hook on a 20 pound launch. On a 20 it will pull 1.66 60s. I also tow with the truck regularly.

The stock intermediate shaft is very strong. You will bigger problems (welding 1st gr) before you break it.

I think "Opie" named a input shaft after John.

Billet Flexplate, Input, Output
48Re Drum and VB

Built for 700hp, drag racing, maybe a sled pull or two, and towing less than 10K max!

I was gonna do the stock intermediate, but Tim talked me out of it! He's only seen one break, and that was a special case...Joefarmer was involved

Haven't got to use mine much, just coming up on the 1st service this week...but I don't think I'll have any trouble at all one I get this thing dialed in!
