If you dont drill the holes atleast 1/2" it'll hit the a/c line ....with 1/2" holes when you tighten it down it'll keep it away from the a/c line I'm getting S/S nuts and washers then I'll put the little gromets thats on the factory air box on top of the studs to support and protect the filter.

I know you can find the filters cheaper but I was in a hurry to finish it so I just got off the phone with napa and got NAPA part # 2790 ordered it'll be here @ 9 am tomarrow $50 .

other part #'s for bhaf are........

Fleetguard AH19037
WIX 42790
Donaldson B105006
Baldwin PA2820
Hastings AF1012
DONALDSON ECB105006

Well you see ......I got it for free its acctually a prototype I had built to test the fit so I could hook up my DTR buds ,but do to certain regulations in place its not allowed .....no repeat sells of items with out becomeing a vendor I was after no profit I just want enough to pay the guy to make them and to have enough to ship em' ,but people would take avantage of this type of sales and would try to make money with out paying DTR the applicable rights.I understand 100% so I am getting them made for people who are close and hooking them up. This shop was $86 for s/s , $78 for alum and $71 for steel all you have to do is print out the template from tech facts and take it to a fabrication shop you should be able to find one with prices close to these.Do them a favor and cut out the templates and tape them together. The only problem that might arrise is most shops told me they would only sell them in sets of 12 to accomendate the full sheet of stock.

Stick around and keep checking the DTR store they may be getting them in there .you got to support the site for if it wasnt for DTR I wouldnt even have the template.

Good luck DM

I got it done !!!!

I have to say the turbo noise was more audible with the K&N in the air box But I guess you'd get tired of the noise after a while if you just want the whisle Id go with the spectre intake ($40) see my galliery for pics of that or see the critic acclaimed thread here...................

---------------------------------------------------
With the new set up Ive only drove about 20 miles so I really dont have any more feedback at this time it seems to be working fine .

Now for the pics....................

Be sure to pull the shield away from the A/C line before tighting down the nuts with 1/2" holes it'll be eazily done also use skinny nut so you can still have enough of the studs left to put the feet on.

FEET

Just pull the gromets and plastic bolt things out of the factory box . now seperate the gromets from the plastic bolts turn the gromets over and put the bolts back in upside down this kind of acts like little feet to support the filter and allow air to flow 360*

LINE

Id reccomend putting the intake line on the filter first then set it in the truck il be kind of hard to put the hose on while its behind the heat shield. plus the connection on the filter it kind of short and you want to make sure you get a good fit Ive heard of DTR members putting a short piece of 4" pipe inside the end of the hose and the filter end ,,but I got a good fit on mine so its not nessasary for me.

Shouldn't a heat shield ideally be ABS plastic or something that doesn't transfer heat so well?
