Differential Gaskets?

Anyone use differential cover gaskets?
Ever use one like this?

I'm wondering if I should buy some for my truck. I normally just use RTV, but this is supposedly reusable and would be more convenient.

Thanks,
Chris

I have a Mag Hy-tec, so I use an o-ring.

But, I am thinking about these on my Jeep.

Mine are stock, but I haven't had any leakage from changing diff oil. I do use a small taste of blue RTV on them also.

I asked the ebay Seller a question, abotu how many times I could reuse this gasket, and this is his reply:

It is hard to definitively say how many times they may be reused, however I have serviced my differential 15-20 times in the last 2 years since I have had mine on my rig and my buddies rigs. Remember that these gaskets are backed by 100% satisfaction guarantee??.please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with, thank you.

Maybe he evaluates locker units, or just has a really cheap locker in there to begin with.

Don't waste your time, when I popped open my front I was dumping out nice yellowish, brand new looking oil!

Did mine at 74K,(history unknown) back was nasty real dark as I expected, but not contaminated.

I used black hihg temp Permatex RTV on mine, no leaks, nice and clean.

P.J,
Not to start another diff oil thread, but what weight did you use on the rear, and do you tow often?

I use the very best, made for the job product, Loctite #518.
http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...2&autoview=sku

RTV sucks and if you don't wait for it to dry overnight will often leak. With #518 you can slap it together and drive off instantly. Comes off easier than RTV the next time also.
