I disagree. In the same tire size, a Load Range E/10 Ply Rating is going to have a higher weight rating, be firmer, and provide better handling and more stability, especially with any kind of load on them than will a tire with Load Range D/8 Ply Rating.

When I replaced the Load Range D/8 Ply Rated 315/75R16 tires that were on my truck when I purchased it with Load Range E/10 Ply Rated 315/75R16 Toyo Open Country M/Ts, the difference in handling, stability, and overall road manners and performance was quite noticably better.

I'm sure it was, but was the weight rating differant? I'm willing to bet it is higher on you're current tire. I've seen 265 E's that were rated for less than some 265 D's. That's why I say the letter rating means very little.

Yes, the E rated Toyos have a 3860lb weight capacity and the D rated Wild Countries that they replaced had a 3195lb weight capacity. That is in part a function of the higher load range rating. For any given size, E rated tires have a stronger sidewall and will be able to better handle any given weight. I would not simply discount or entirely dismiss the load range rating system. I would rather have a Load Range E tire with a 3200lb weight rating than a Load Range D tire rated to carry 3200lbs even that meant stepping down a size or two for the Load Range E tires.

As explained to me:

Load range D even if given the same weight rating, will buckle and flex more than a load range E tire.

I have load D now and i had replaced load E 265's.. since doing that the truck feels unstable turning.

Im goin back to E!!

Toyos soundin real good now...

Haven't found a weight rating

Went to get a quote though, and they said the XD 122's are national backorder and cant get any.. They suggested motometal's 951 in black.. but meh ill pass everyone and their grandma has those rims here in AZ.

Quoted $1700 for 951's, 315 toyo m/ts, alignment and locking nuts.

Still looking..

Anyone know of a decent looking all black or near all black rim ?

I am putting in a 2 1/2 inch suspension system on my 2001 quad cab 4x4,
want to use toyo 35 12.5 17 E but i am stumped on the max backspace i
can use ? I was looking at 8 /, 8 1/2 , 9 inch wheels and am not sure wich
way to go .I want the tires to stay inside fender wells as much as possible,
You guys have any info for me
Also the wheels in the first pic. 7089 have a load rating of something like
3400lb black wheels are on the top of my list as well not easy to find though

6" backspacing is ideal.

Alot of aftermarket rims will be 4, 5, etc.. watch and make sure you get as close to 6" as you can to avoid rubbing.

Decided to go with the moto 951's and toyo m/ts. Also having the shop do a level on the front and block the rear so i dont get butt-dragging on the highway or with a load.

I almost forgot how bad shops try to stick it to ya.. But if i were to do it myself id have the parts on my desk for a couple months going "hm, i should install those".

Will have pics at end of week.. Hopefully can get the two-tone silver bottom half line-x'd by then.

I sure hope it fits under my carport......

I am not sure how bad a six inch backspace will rub the control arm.
The wheels on my truck now are 7.5" with a 6" backspace B.F. 285 75 16
and they rub the control arm at full lock, seems to me 35 12.5 17 mt would
get into the lower control arm way to much.
I have heard of some people exchanging lower control arm for 03 and clearing
but any info would be great

Just got them on today and snapped a few pics tonight after making some clearance on the front.. pending approval in the gallery.

They hit the front sheetmetal/rocker panel without doing anything just turning the wheel. Needed to clear that up a bit. Ranchhand really weighs the front down i guess..

This is w/ 2" spacer on front and i think they only blocked the rear 1 or 1-/2".. i made it very clear i didnt want to be completely level!

Will get nice clean pics in the near future.

Get some DTprofab 1/2" forward control arms and it will eliminate that tire rub on the sheet metal...I had the same issue when I put mine on. $1700? What size wheel did you get?

$1700 was the wrong tires and wasnt everything . Ended up being $2500 for everything. Coulda saved a couple hundred if i did the level/blocks myself but i wouldnt get around to it i tend to procrastinate.

Level, blocks, installation.
Alignment
Motometal 951's 16x9
Gorilla locking lugs
Toyo MT 315/75/16
And of course the road hazard warranty since the highways here are littered with shrapnel severely.
