Darell Alderman's 7 second Cummins!

I just got a call from a racing engine builder friend saying that he has one of Darell Alderman's race trucks that now has a CTD and is in the 7's in the quarter!

I'm going down to take a look at it...... story breaking...

That would be cool. Didn't Larry Minor have a V8 turbo diesel in a dragster years ago? Seems like it went 8's.

I RACE AT NATIONAL EVENTS ALL THE TIME AND KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO DO WHAT HE CLAIMS, I DONT THINK SO, THE FASTEST I KNOW ABOUT IS ONE IN A DRAGESTER THAT IS IN THE 8S AND A DRAGSTER HAS A HUGE ADVANTAGE OVER A DOOR CAR. HE MIGHT BE TALKING 1/8 MILE

Years ago I saw a guy by the name of Tyrone Malone who had a couple of large plastic bodied big trucks with hot rod diesel motors in them. He was a builder/owner who did these staged races all over the country. They were on a promotional tour for Goodyear Tires (Bandag) and featured these 2 FAST large trucks racing up and down a city street that was blocked off in Tacoma Washigton. I don't know ET's but they were screamers and that sound...WOW!! It was a spectaular sight seeing these large, rear finned race trucks that said Kenworth or Peterbuilt on the side, burning tires and making smoke. Chuck

I got this from a reliable source. I'm going to get mor details on Monday.
Hey, if a stock internal CTD holds the lans speed record for a puckup, it should be possible. The Olds DRCE blocks the pro stockers are using weigh about as much as a "B" block!

well he raced dragsters for years, i do not know if he built any of them, i do know he did not go the diesel route any longer. he has it hanging on a wall in his shop. i remember stories of how DD said he could not pull the RPM he was saying he could, well he proved them wrong. he had his own injector dyno room and everything, pretty smart guy. i was not at all impressed by the guy he had running the shop tho LOL

New Info:
The truck used to belong to Alderman, and is an NHRA prostock. Dr. Diesel is now involved with the project, to what extent I do not know. The engine is a basically stock except for the cam ISB running nitrous and is in the 8's. Apparently there is another Dodge drag truck in the 7's, and the two are trying to hook up for match races.
That's all I know for now.

Mark

The truck is not in the 7 sec bracket at all. Comp is fast but not there yet. We will be going to Baytown, Tx this weekend and we'll see how bad he run's Jeff's race truck in the ground. It is a pro stock truck. Tube frame and all. When I get back Monday, I'll let ya'll know just how fast Comp is.
