dang...whatdid I do

I was driving my truck...see mods below and decided to make a 5x5 blast. I hammered it and it took off and ran great all through the gears. I started to slow and she sut down. Went to start...good fp but she wont fire up. My VP is only like 3 mos old and I just got the comp. Could I have killed my VP already.

NO CEL either

Crack the feed line going to the VP, and see if there is fuel there. If there is, crack an injector line and see if fuel is there. Mine did same thing, no CEL or anything, but VP laid down on me.

also would the vp just cut out and die with no warning signs? I ran my last vp for almost 3 mos after it starting showing symptoms.

I guess I am fighting what I know is probably true. I would take the bad news better if the pump was old but it has less then 2k miles on it!

Did you crack an injector line and crank it over? If no diesel comes out, VP is dead. I got mine from Doug at Advanced Diesel Technology. Mine set no codes, just up and quit on a 5x5 run WOT of course!!

you may have simply vapor locked the truck... have you cracked a few injector lines and checked for fuel there??

Once your sure it's the VP, that's what I would do. I've read if a new pump goes south right away, it was doomed anyway. Can a VP fail without throwing a code?

For what it's worth I just got a VP replaced under warranty and tapped the wire the next day. It's got less than 3K on it and so far it's been flawless. I'm constantly stressing about it though and won't be comfortable til its got at least 5K. It's one of the unfamous black beauties too.

i will put money on it that you did that smae thing ive done about 6 times since i got the comp...5x5 blast then slam on the brakes cuz you need to slow down for any reason and she cuts out on ya.

crack 3 injector lines...crank the truck over til you get good fuel flowing out of those injector lines. re-tighten them and crank it again...it will start to sputter and finally rumble to life. its become so common to me with the big injectors and comp on 5x5 that i pull the wrench out of the console before i hit the go-go pedal cuz i know if i have tos top its gonna be a 5 minute task on the side of the road to get it started again.

Well I had to have her towed to the dealer last night...waiting on a call. I will let you guys know what they say.(unlike some people on here...man I hate that) I will also tell them to try and bleed out the injectors and see if that fixes it. I had very little fuel in the truck when this happened and I also have a fuel leak somewhere. The truck was going back to the dealer today anyway to look for the fuel leak.
