Cure for Flakey Steering Wheels

Anyone having the "Creeping Crud" attacking your steering wheel?
Don't want to deal with a "one-size-fits-all" lace-on cover?

Check these guys out.

Re:Cure for Flakey Steering Wheels

VEEEEEERRRRY carefully!!!!!!!!! I know there is a factory procedure for this but when I work on touchy things like an airbag I disconnect the battery(s), turn on the headlights and the ignition and let it sit for at least an hour. This hopefully drains any voltage potential residue. Then I can take the airbag out but still keep my head away and work on the presumption that the thing is going to blow anyway. Also BEFORE you touch the airbag electrical terminals, make sure you grap a good ground in the vehicle and drain any possible static electricity out of your body first.<br>Overkill??? Maybe, but when it comes to airbags I am not sure if there is an overkill for safety. It will be interesting to se what the experts have to say.

How long does it take to redo? My truck is only 2 years old and I've been fighting this since the first year.
