Cool air intake
Hey guys,
I've seen a bunch of BHAF's and different ideas on how to shield them from the heat of the engine but I haven't seen anyone build a truly cool air intake system. I guess the Scotty system come pretty close. I was thinking about building a system that actually pulls outside air through a hood scoop. Anybody try this yet?

I was thinking about this myself. I was planning on using an aftermarket hood one with the dual scoops and fabing up some ducting into a box that houses a BHAF. I haven't done more than think about it though. Let me know how it goes if you do it.

why bother? If Im not mistaken, the Scotty 2 will flow enough air for over 500 hp. Do you honestly think you can do this fabrication for cheaper than you can buy a Scotty 2?? Seems like a lot of work to me.

i use a stock intake and another cool air intake coming from the front bumper. My set up should work for 98 - 2000 model where it have space. I order intake filter from uni and use the pipe and clamp from home depot.

Well first of all before anyone gets to worked up... I'm not saying the Scott 2 isn't a great system and no matter what anyone else builds it won't be as good and of course there is no way to build a system as good for less money. First of all I'm a fabricator. This is what I do for a living and I do it for a living because I like to do it. When I get a chance I'll also build my own bumpers and headache racks stuff like that. I don't care if I can buy them cheaper I really don't care how much work it is. I just like to do it. My big problem is trying to find the time. Now if anyone has any other good ideas I would sure like to hear them. Thanks,

The cowl induction of the Scotty II just can't be beat.. Its been often immitated but not duplicated by all the "big" filter manufacturers. Truth is it has been on the market in one shape or form for almost 10 years and gets results.. And the price is really reasonable for the results..
Ok..Whos next on the soap box???

These have been around for a few years, but the Scotty is probably your best bet over any thing out there. http://dpofutah.tripod.com/id39.htm
