connector for BHAF?

What is everyone using to join a BHAF to their stock intake tube? I plan on using Fleetguard # AH19037. That is, unless people have bad luck with that particular filter.

Thanks.

I too use that filter. For me, the stock intake tube fits over the inlet to the filter. Use the stock clamp to tighten the intake tube on to the filter.
Now, some have had the stock intake tube come off. This exposes the turbo to unfiltered air.
I have not had this happen... yet.
A simple mod is to cut a PVC pipe and fit the filter on one end and the intake tube on the other. This mod also allows you to keep the filter minder.

Rich.

I use the baldwin version and just slipped the intake tube over the filter neck, seems to work fine for me although I do check it at every fuel up to make sure.

A piece of 4" exhaust pipe about 2" long that you place into the neck of the filter for support.

I've had mine on some very rough roads and it's stayed connected.

I check every now and then just to make sure, but so far so good.

I have the AH19037.

I don't like the idea of compressing the intake tube over the unsupported rubber of the filter. It appears 4" OD tubing inside the filter's end for rigidity is the hot ticket. It's very straight forward, and I feel like it's actually a silly question. I just wanted to know if there was a standard item that everybody was using, that's all.

Thanks.

I am looking at the cool blue hose to connect mine, I talked with the air guys and they told me it should fit, I am just not sure if it will line up perfectly with the BHAF as its close to the original location but not quite....

If your BHAF has a "soft" neck, you can use a DWS to drain 3"x4" reducer. You can find them in any Home Depot plumbing section.

Otherwise known as a Fernco. Sorry, my dad's a plumbing and fire sprinkler contractor, and that's what we used to call them. Sort of how you call an adjustable open end wrench a Crescent wrench.

The problem with using a Fernco, is that you're extending the connection by the length of the Fernco. The air filter is 11 inches long already, so the added length of the Fernco pushes the end of the filter right into the fender area. I guess with the flexible intake hose it's not really that big of a deal. I might decide to fabricate a new intake hose. Maybe something like this with some 4" copper pipe. Sort of hokey I guess.

I use the fleetguard one and take some light sand paper to the outside if filter neck before potting hose on , this will rough it up then tight'n your clamp down good and forget about it, it wont come off.

If the BHAF fits inside the stock elbow... I'm confused. I thought the stock elbow was 4" ID which would have to make the BHAF 4" OD (not ID?) if it fits inside the stock elbow. Or is the stock elbow bigger?
