Which Clutch for these bombs?
I would say the Southbend OFE would be a good clutch for you. I have it in my truck and it is just as smoth as stock. with a load, it shifts even better. I have done a few 2100rpm launches and the thing grabs like crazy. I know on the OFE and FE clutches Peter has put a new pressure plate on them with 400Lbs more force. He told me the OFE will hold 500hp no problem. JMHO.

Thank you to all. I know this info will come in handy to all who read this post!
I am confused though, is the OFE stronger or the FE? If not stronger, what's the difference (hold more torque, hold more horsepower?)
THanks as always guys!

A DD is a Dual Disk clutch. they are used for high hp/torque trucks. it has a special flywheel that has friction material on it. then there is a plate with friction material on both sides, followed by a smoth center plate, then by another plate with friction material on both sides and finally the pressure plate. provides alot more holding force with little increase in the pressure applied. a little rattle in there too
southbend's web site has some good picture of one.

i would recomend southbend. I myself just had a southbend triple disc put in, and had them completly redo my 5spd. they are a little on the high side price wise, but with the new clutch and tranny being redone, it comes with a lifetime warranty, no matter how much power i put to it. the guy i talked to said that i can put as much power to it as humanly possible to it, and if i break it, they fix it, no charge.
no single is gonna survive "a few hooks a year" at least not if you launch like you need to to do well. a haisley street drag like ive got would be a good clutch for "a few hooks a year" or a 3850 sdc dd if your gonna hook more than that. As far as singles go southbend is the only way. However both Southbend and Haisley Machine make great dd's Haisley aslo makes 4 disck weighted clutches that are used in the mod trucks like rock hard ram and off constantly. so if they can make a clutch to hold 1700 hp I think they can make somthing work for you.
I bought a FE from TiminVa's company and got a DTR discount
