Clutch burnin up after 2 months
I wouldnt talk to much about Valair on here. Every other Valair thread gets locked.
Their clutches are made from Chinese components hence the price of them. I read on hear that someones Valair grenaded and blew out the bellhousing.
Stick with SBC, or Haisley.

Well, I wouldn't say all that. Valair makes good clutches, haven't heard bad things about them at all. My buddy is running their version of my clutch with the same HP, he doesn't slip when launching in 3rd nor is having the problems I have. I can get one of their Dual Disks,Hydraulic Upgrade, and billet input for about the same price as SB charges for just the clutch. I'll see what SB says about the upgrade though.
It's easy to charge less when you dont have any R&D.
You can find bad things about every product, including south bend if you look hard enough. I definitely like their warranty a lot more, Valair 12m/100,000 mile vice south bend 12m/12,000 mile. I really expected more out of this South Bend, just wasn't that impressed. I think I'm gonna go ahead and give the Valair a shot, nothing against your guy's opinions but gotta go with my gut. I will let you all know how it works out. Thanks again for the help guys. Let the flaming begin,lol.

Bryan, Before you spend the $1200, give Peter a call. I've talked with him, he's a pretty reasonable and decent guy. He $upport$ Diesel Performance in a big way. Explain the problem that you're having and what you would like to accomplish with your truck.

Its worth investigating what peter says and has to offer other wise been happy with my choice.
By no means do I have anything wrong with Valair.
I DO know that Valair has been banned from DTR because of their BAD buisness practices. I read that it was because they were using chinese components and that one of their clutches DID grenade and took the bellhousing out.

Nothing bad either side here was just curious on the grenading thing and didnt see how it would have enough rpms or force for parts to come apart and actually grenade a bellhousing. I know it can happen on dragsters but they are usually turning high engine rpms.
Talking clutches on these forums is deffinatly a pissin match. All i can tell you is i bought a kenneys pullin parts dual disc and the money i svaed on the cheaper clutch i spent fixing it to try and make it right. I ended up buying two dd cluthes and tring them out to see which one i liked best. SBC is a good product and peter is a nice guy. I ended up with a Powerparts clutch in my pullin rig because i thought it worked better than the sbc, but we put the sbc in my brothers 97 and have no problems what so ever. If money is a object, call terry at powerparts and talk to him about the non-sfi twin. I think it is around $1350. I know alot of people with these and they hold as much as the rest of the dual disc. I hate to see somebody else go through all the troble and money i spent trying "cheaper" clutches. There is a reason they offer the same thing at a smokin price. Tim
The reason a clutch will explode on a low rpm motor is mainly heat making cracks mostly from slipping or something breaking and shifting off center, in the ladder case any clutch will come a part. NTPA NHRA are very strict on the rules on clutches & bell housings.I have seen 5 disk crower glides come apart as well did they get what they paid for?.

Yikes, maybe I should stop slipping my clutch then!!!
Anything can break in performance applications. I don't think you will ever get a sfi flywheel to come apart. The flywheel bolts might break, crankshaft come apart or any other catastrophic failure could happen but that is the name of the game and something was wrong to begin with. Look at Martin farms Dairy Deere at gordyville. It broke in half, but nobody was injured so the qulity stuff did it job and i would say they got what they paid for. Safety! Tim
I know of a few guys running Kenny's clutches around here and like them. Your the first person I have seen that doesn't like them. Even one guy running thier triple disc. Every now and then theres gonna be a good and bad of every product.
