Re:clutch advice

For daily drivers it's hard to beat the Southbend Clutches. For your application I would go ahead with the CON OFE, you will be close to the 400HP mark if you do any other upgrades (like a Comp ).

Re:clutch advice

Thanks for all the advice and Jason with the set up i have power is really good accelerates fast throught all gears but in 6th at wot clutch sometimes doesent like it,thats at 40000 miles. egts never above 1250 and thats running wot from stop up to 90mph it finally hits 1250. I think i may get mach 2 edm's for a little more power later but after the new clutch.

Re:clutch advice

I recently read a thread on the TDR about SPEC clutches. They offer 5 stages of single discs and the prices are very good. I don't know the web address off-hand, but it should come up with a search.

Re:clutch advice

I love my 13" Con Fe Southbend clutch, very streetable with loads of holding power. 8)

If you go with an Fe you have to throw the power to it to make it smooth. I sware the more power I put into this clutch the smoother it gets. ;D

Now I just gotta get the slave cylinder fixed next week. :

Re:clutch advice

if you are looking to hook to a sled at ALL Peter will say go with the SBC dd street clutch. thats what he told me until I decided to go for more pulls. I have a friend with the SBC dd Pulling clutch and so far it has not lasted more than 3 or 4 pulls per clutch. X3 or 4 But Peter has worked with him really well giveing him the new clutches for free. I'm not knocking SBC's clutches they are top rate. I'm just going to wait for the bugs to get worked out of the puller so I don't have to put a clutch in my truck so often. J.R. How is your clutch doing? I would really like to know.

Re:clutch advice

A friend and I are currently looking into the www.HaisleyMachine.com HMR Street Puller.

Its a dual disk clutch that is safe to drive on the road everyday (hence the name), but also on the website it says in BIG red letters. RECOMMENDED FOR SLED PULLING ;D

If your going to pull at all you need to look into a dual disk from any of the big 3: Mitchell's, Haisley's, or SBC.

I agree with Aaron (dodgeman01) about the SBC's they are a great clutch, but Peter is still having to work out the bugs using the DD's for Sled Pulling.

I myself was going to go with a SBC DD, but I cannot afford to buy the SBC DD then mess it up sled pulling and pay to have it revamped so I can drive my truck that I need everyday.

I like the Mitchell's dual disk they always place top in their classes, but if you ask them where its built its built by tractor pullers. That's just not something I want to run in my truck everyday.

I'd call Smith Diesel in KY 859-289-7892 ask them about the H-M street puller. I know of one boy in KY that runs it in a 2500 and he places in the top 5 most times!
