Question chips

Hello, i just purchased a 01 sixspeed h.o. 2 weeks ago and love it! I took it camping over the long weekend and got 19 going and 20mpg coming home. If i chip it, will i keep the mileage? and what chips should i consider? I have been looking at the bully dog systems(since they are semi local with a free dyno). I know i want a 4" ex. and a k&n. before i chip it for lower egt's... right? Thnx.

use the search tab on DTR to answer most of your questions about boxs and MPG and just about anything you have to ask
above all gauges first
fill out your sig in user cp so we know what you got (mod wise)

It's easier for us if you fill out your signature with your truck info. Plus, that way you don't have to write it everytime.

First you need gauges (boost, egt, and fuel pressure). This gives you a good baseline to work off of and lets you pinpoint problems before performance enhancements (i.e. LIFT PUMP PRESSURES). How much power increase do you want? There are many companies to choose from with different options for "chips". I like my Edge Comp. I had the K&N drop-in filter but didn't care for it (and it voids warranty). It was a waste of $70. I now have the BHAF (look in the "tech facts" for more info) and have done better with mileage and turbo whistle. With my setup, I pull anywhere from 16-18mpg in town (driving habits play a big part) and 17-20mpg on the highway cruising. I'm happy.

It comes down to: what type of power you want and how you want to use that power (towing, racing, etc)?

And with added power comes added strain on the drivetrain. Injectors, boxes, and turbos are fun but don't forget your clutch.
