Changing tire size

I am looking at changing my tire size to 265/75/16. Currently my truck has 245/75/16 on it. I was advised at the tire shop it would not change things but I don't know if he was trying to make a sale on the tires or what. Will this change my mileage, speedometer read, etc.?

enter your new and old tire sizes to see the difference in speedo reading and miles traveled correction.

What year of truck you have? The newer trucks you just adjust the computer for the different tire size. The bigger tires are harder on the weak stock front end, but there's fixes for that as well. My local tire shop tried to give me the same rant, go find another shop. You also lose some braking performance from the extra tire weight.

The older ones (94 to 99) came with 245's factory. Your speedo and odometer will be out. Ed's link will tell you how much. I'm gonna take a guess somewhere around 5%. Not a big deal, but its nice when things are accurate.

You can go into the computer and change the tire revolutions and correct it. It is no big deal to get it right.

I switched from 265/75-16s to 285s and have had no problems. I calculated the difference on the speedo at 4%.
