BHAF Template Question

The heat sheild template says to bend it to 95 degrees. Which side is this measured on? Better yet, do you bend it more or less than 90? I don't have a break so I have to take it to a fab shop.

Thanks

Re:BHAF Template Question

It probably doesn't matter too much. I have plenty of clearance and could go at least plus or minus 10 degrees before I even come close to hitting anything.

Re:BHAF Template Question

Yea anything close to 90 would be fine. When I built mine I used 1/4 diamond plate alum. It looks really good. Bent it so that the diamond faces out toward the turbo. What I also did was to cut out the mount/heat shield out of card board to dry run it and make adjustments. remember, measure twice cut once. The card board works good for punching the mount holes....get it where you want it and press down to get the mount holes lined up perfectly. Then use the cardboard as the templet. I did all the cutting with a jig saw cleaned it up with a small file and then had a fab shop bend it.

Re:BHAF Template Question

Have the fabrication shop bend it to 90 degrees and then you will be able to tweak it a few degrees either direction by hand. Much easier to move once it has been started.

What are you having it made out of ?? I like aluminum diamond plate .... just got to scrounge a big enough piece.

Re:BHAF Template Question

Thanks for the tips, guys. Vegasbound, great idea about using cardboard first to line it up. I have a piece of 10 guage aluminum to use. I plan on finding some kind of thin weatherstripping or door edge guard to finish the edges off.
