Question BHAF and Outerwears

Thinking about changing to a BHAF. Is the Outerwear's necessary? Is it mainly to keep out moisture? The truck doesn't see alot of mud/offroad right now. Mainly highway/towing. All opinions are appreciated.

BHAF with Outerwears

I have been running the BHAF/Outerwears for a few years now. I was worried about water too. I have had water up around and on the filter.
The Outerwears keeps what little water that gets up there out of the filter, as best I can tell. I change the BHAF once a year (~30K miles).
Sometimes I can get two years on the Outerwears. I just clean it with Dawn and let it dry over night.

BHAF is Fleetgaurd, p/n # AH19037.
The Outerwears pre-filter p/n is WR3325-105.

On edit: Over time I do see dust/dirt on the prefilter, a good indication that it is doing its job keeping out the larger particles. Someone
else may put this more eloquently.

Personally, I don't believe they filter any better than the stock set up, with a good after market filter installed..... but they sure do look cool

The new part number for the water resistenat BHAF Outerwears pre-filter is: 20-1085-xx where "xx" is a 2-digit code used to indicate the color.

Outerwears is selling them for about $30 plus shipping. If you go to their web site you can actually use the keyword "BHAF" to search for this pre-filter. In addition the sales folks even know what you are talking about when you ask for the BHAF pre-filter
