BHAF heatshield

What kind of heatshield are ya'll running with the BHAF?I have seen some that look pretty nice and was wondering if anyone has a template for them?It is going on a 24v truck and as you know the filter will be right next to the turbo so I need something.I am used to the 12v trucks were its by the front fender so its not as crucial to have a shield.Any help would be great. Thanks

I used the one that Lary pointed to on the site here. I printed it out 1:1 scale (I think it is about 8 pages), taped the pages together, cut out the template and glued it down to a piece of aluminum. I then traced around the template with a Sharpie and cut it out using a band saw and nibblers. Bent it up and stuck it in. I got **** and contact cemented some rubber along the edge (using a "U" channel piece of rubber) of it where it was anywhere close to any AC lines.

The template is a Microsoft Word document.

Save it to your computer, then open it.

If you don't have Microsoft Word, wordpad will open it.
Wordpad should be included with all versions of Windows.
Notepad won't open it though.

I did the same as Hotdram, printed it out, taped it together, cut around lines,
but then gave the template to a guy I knew who worked with metal, as I had no skills or tools to attempt myself.

Pictures are in my album.

I would agree to build your own. A buddy and I have built 2 out of a aluminum diamond plate tailgate protector that was laying around collecting dust. No template just winged it and they look good.

I used the template, but there seem to be some places where there could have been some more material left to provide additional shielding. I will eventually use what I have as a basis for something much better. Plus, I need to adjst for my exhaust brake.

I was asking phox but thanks for the reply I am going to get all the parts to make the filter tomorrow. I am thinking about diamond plate but I will probably use plain aluminum.

I'm using the Fleetguard AH19037, the biggest of them all

Around $55 bucks at the local Cummins shop, Cummins Intermountain.

My heatshield is just plain aluminum sheet the guy I had make it had lying around.
About as thick as Diamondplate.

you just print it... it comes out in 8 sheets and then you cut them apart and tape them together

If you open it directly from the site, then it opens up showing all 8 pages.

You have to right click on the link, save to your computer (desktop makes a good place, easy to find later), then open it with either Word or Wordpad.
