Thumbs up BD Intercooler hoses

I just installed a set of BD Intercooler hoses today and took a few pic's to compare them to the stock hoses.

Hopefully this should take care of the problems I was having with my stock hoses coming off when I would have my truck camper on and pulling my Jeep
up steep grades. Usually holding 20-25psi of boost for most of the grade. The camper, trailer and jeep come in around 10,000 lbs.

The new hoses are designed for 75psi of boost, so they are overkill, but at least I won't have to worry about them anymore. The new hose clamps are pretty impressive compared to stock.

Well hopefully you have a better time with them than I did with the BD boots. My bottom boot, on the driverside, coming out of the intercooler kept blowing off. I couldn't keep it on under hard accelleration. I ended up going with Stylin'Motors Inc. boots and haven't had a problem since.

I hope you have good luck with them. I split the pass side at 60psi less than a year old.

You would be absolutely amazed at how much the stock boots swell at pressure compared to aftermarket. It's downright scary.

I've been running 'em with almost 60 psi for a few years now, and several customers as well - zero problems, so I'm happy. By the way, any boot that rubs on fender edges will blow out eventually, so be careful about fitment. I have seen a bunch of stock boots slipped out or partially out from under the clamps, even with stock power.

I think the over flow bottle dripped some oil on it and it really soften the boot up. I couldn't keep it on no matter how hard I tightened the clamp. I was only running about 30psi. The new boots are way thicker and oil hasn't affected it at all. I would recommend them over the BD boots.

The passenger side hose kept coming off when I was towing over the mountain passes on I-70 here in Colorado.

The problem was the hose clamps would not stay on. So the last time it happened I put 2 hose clamps on the hose that was giving me trouble. That worked for a while. Then the last time towed over the passes again, one of the hose clamps blew in half and the other immediately slipped off. I also noticed that now the boot was getting really soft in one section and became worried that it would burst if I kept using it.

I was very careful that nothing was rubbing on the new hoses. And since I never hit more then 30psi, I think these should hold up fine. But time will tell. I'm keeping my old hoses in the truck just in case though.

My stock boots used to blow off around 40 psi. I took them off and cleaned them as well as the tubes then ran it for a day and re-tightened the clamps. have hit 60psi with no problems on the stock boots. I bet they have 15-20 sled hooks on them at over 50psi.

I have seen and heard a lot of leaking and/or spliting of the BD boots. Good luck!

I'm running the BD boots and I found they work good except that the clamps come loose every once in a while. I have to tighten them like every month. I usually find at least one thats backed out a bit. I had no issuses with the stock boots other than oil destroying them. If you have a boot blow of repeadly you may have oil residue on the sealing surface, just brake clean it and the IC and pipe then give them a good wipe.
