Axle Wrap

Well I got most of the lift done on my truck, Has a total of 10inches of lift now. Took if for a drive, and it drove farlly well, Axle wrap was always a consern, so i stood back a watched my buddy do some take offs in it, WOW!! The axle moves ALOT!! So how do i stop this, traction bars or ladder bars? Whats the difference, Does one bolt to the alxe in one point and the other two points?? Or bolt to the alxe or to the spring perch, Help me out here guys, whats the best way to go?? Thanks Chris

Are you going to go off-road with thing? If you are I wouldnt go with ladder bars, they will limit your articulation, traction bars should be ok,but thats just my opinion.

How is it lifted? Blocks? 10 inches is a lot. Ladder bars will help but you may think of a four link with some firestone bags. Or if you did blocks get a huge leaf pack.

Don't do much off roading. If I do, its just in mud, no flexing. so thats why I was thinking ladder bars.

Its got 5inch springs up front with 2inch spacers, Rear has a block and add-a-leaf. And also has a 3inch body lift, 10inch Total lift. I know the block thing in the rear is not the best but i don't have to money for new leafs right now, thats why i want ladders to make it somewhat safe. Later down the road it will get new leafs, Long arms and adjustable trac bar.

I built mine--DOM tubing--1.75 x .25 wall although 2" x .3875 wall may be better--I have a 7" lift---I used 3/4" heims--welded some ears on the bottom of my spring perches so the center of bolt is about 2.5"-3" below axle and then welded some plate steel brackets to the frame---my bars are 8' long--longer is better---chris

I'm guessing that's a typo? I've been wanting to build bars for awhile too. Since they won't be smashing rocks, you could get away with .120 wall. That would be a lot cheaper than .25 or .19 wall DOM.
