6" inches too big? no back pressure cause problems? plan to get an Edge box and bigger injectors also

 

Wow, you don't need that big. A 4" will do just fine, especially for $800 You don't need to pay that much for a good exhaust. If you want big, 5" would be the biggest I would go. Don't worry about back pressure. Plan on gauges before you get an Edge.

One thing to keep in mind...with a 4 inch the spare tire will fit under the bed.

IMO, 6" is overkill....5" is overkill for most people.

Does that 6" come with a 7" tip??

Lots of tests have been run that show a 4.0 will support up to 500 RWHP. If you want it go for it, we sell a lot of the 6.0 inch tips as folks like the look of them, sort of the same thing etc. If you are looking to get it as you think you need it for EGT reduction etc you won't. Plus what someone here mentioned about spare tires fitting etc.

yea i spose a 4" would be more realistic. I guess i was just trying to imagine what a 6" pipe would look like hangin out the back

 

5" clears the spare just fine

 

5" clears on my 96 3500

 

You can get the 6 inch tip for the 4" or 5" exhaust

 

5" clears here too on 01' 2500 4x4 w/ 8' box

 

I installed a 5" on an 01 Dodge and was amazed at how well it fit. Really was nice. Only had one hanger wrong.

6"????????????????? Why?

 

There is a certain point when the exhaust is too big. If the surface area is so large that the exhaust cools down, it starts moving more slowly, HURTING overall flow.

 

You can't over exhaust our trucks. Some people claim that they lost bottom end torque, but trust me... they THINK they lost it. Turbocharged diesel engines can't be over exhausted...

That being said, in my personal (and often un-popular) opinion, 6" exhausts do not look good on our trucks. And especially silly is 6" tips on a smaller exhaust. That is WAY to 'bling bling' for me. Reminds me of the morons driving the ricers with 5" outlet mufflers that have 1.5" inlets....

Overall, 6" its just not 'scale' on our trucks.... it screams, "yes I like to overdo things and make them gaudy" similar again to the ricer types who put on those preposterous wings which stick 2' up in the air or huge Fox stickers in the rear window...

I don't mean to offend anyone who has this setup, but I respectfully suggest that it looks silly and it would look much better in 5" or 4".

excuse me if I'm wrong guys but looking at the pic on ebay that appears to be a 4" diamter exhaust with a 6" tip...labeled a 6" inch exhaust because the tip is the part you can see

uve seen those ads for "add a 6" tip to ur pea-stroke" well they dont mean 6" diamter its 6" in length...

if that was a 6" exhaust first off u need to change ur downpipe...i dont see that in the pic and then u need a couple of increasers...one thats 4" to 5" and then 5" to 6"....dont get conned by clever advertisement wording
