The only reason I can see in investing in a 5" system is if you are over like 900hp. 4" is plenty good up to 700 or so hp. 5" may give you a deeper, throatier sound than 4" though.

$3300 or so for tranny, $1500 for at least a B-1 or HX55, $1500 for a set of Bully Dog Step 8 injectors. But then you may need twins instead of the B-1, that's about $4000.

Gets real expensive real quick.

Re:to 5" or not to 5" .......

I just put a five inch system on my truck. I don't have anywhere close to 900 hp but I wish I did. I went to a local truck parts store and bought all the pieces and made it myself. It does have a very good sound. After about a month though I had to put a muffler on it. It was not to loud but the five inch pipe will resonate pretty bad and starts to rattle everything on the truck. I know that the five inch was over kill for my truck but I like it and it does sound good. Maybe somday I will have 900 HP ;D

DieselCrazy,
Just some food for thought.........
Chrysler replaced it's 3" system this year with a hybrid 3.5/4" system to upgrade hp from 245 to 305. The bean counters don't spend money lightly...................

Do some research because there are formulas that size exhaust by cubic inch and horsepower. Can you find a formula for 4" single exhaust that supports 700hp, turbocharged??

Good luck and it doesn't hurt to question the folks that are happy with what they have, Larry

Most guys only run 4" exhaust and they are close to that. 4" is plenty big enough. But like the old saying, "Bigger is better." ;D
