4x4 launch?

I went to the track yesturday, and i ran a 17.17 @ 79.07MPH. i was in 4x4 the hole time through the track. I was woundering if that would hurt my truck[nonono]. So like when i shift from 2nd to 3rd. should i also put it into 2wd? it didnt seem like it hurt my truck but i started to think about it and i dont need it after the launch? Any advice would be great!

Nah. You didn't hurt anything. I'd say with an auto go ahead and pull it back in to 2wd but it's a lot easier to do with an auto than a 6spd. Your shifting so fast you probably don't have enough time to pull it before you have to grab the next gear.

and even if you do kick it into 2x4 it probably wont disengauge from 4x4 until you start to slow down....

Jturs 04-28-2007 06:55 PM

yeah how would you put it back in 2wd while you are hauling a$$. you would think it either wouldnt go back into 2wd or would make a horrible noise or something

01 Dwhite 04-28-2007 07:08 PM

is is bad if you leave it in 4wd the whole time? or will it mess up the front diff.

BigBlue 04-28-2007 07:24 PM

No. It's not bad. Just be sure before you turn to disengage it.

blackdiesel 04-28-2007 09:08 PM

how much wheel spin do you have in 2x4, with just a ez any way?

Big Dblue 04-28-2007 11:02 PM

well when we went to the track. I only got to race twice. and both times i had it in 4x4. and i have only had the ez for a couple of days and havent really mashed on it from dead stop. but i believe i would spin through 3rd.

Rodram2002 04-28-2007 11:07 PM

i run mine throught the whole 1/4 in 4X4. and i finish at 101mph. I shift into 2wd at the end of my run before I turn off the track

Big Dblue 04-29-2007 09:47 AM

well thats good. Thats what i was doing. I belive that the 4x4 helped alot. all my buddies had 2wd's and they couldnt get no traction at all.

TheBigNasty 04-29-2007 08:33 PM

I highly doubt your truck with just an EZ would spin the tires in 2wd horribly unless you are just utterly trying.

Not bad for a 6 speed. What gear do you start out in?

A 3rd gear launch with the motor sitting at 3800rpm from the start.[coffee] I need to work on my launch some. I don't smoke at all and I know I can let the clutch out alot faster. My 60' times suck. :( I'll get it down for the next race I make.

Not hurting anything staying in a straight line! I would take it out of 4x4 if you can. May come out of 4x4 between shifts and that could help you times a bit. Also prevents forgetting and trying to turn off the track in 4x4... which I suspect we have all done? :)

On a auto, it won't go to 2x4 till you back off the throttle, but I still shift it out after third gear because I did forget once.

Mine disengaged 4wd going from 3rd to 4th one time, and it didnt sound the best, so I just leave it in till the end of the run now.[dummy]
