the redline box on my truck puts her up around 4000k rpm (with a cam and valve springs of course)... but what i was trying to figure out today is how the redline box would react with a smarty?.... what does the redline box do for timing?

 

I have a tst and smarty and everytime I pull, I crank it up to 4,000 RPM off the line.

 

My 01 runs strong past 4000 rpm. I have run the Redline and the unlimited box - definately fun. I will never run a Smarty on the 01, the Smarty kills high rpm power.

 

yea i agree smarty does kill power on the upper rpm, but i think it makes up for it for gettin there so fast

 

i dont think ive ever heard of an unlimited box... what is it? what does it do? and how much is it?

 

The Redline box fuels to 4000RPM the Unlimited Redline box fuels 4000 + RPM i have had mine spiking 4600RPM She will sing a tune!

 

I disagree the upper end power is alot more useful than getting there an loosing it. But my truck is set up for upper RPM powerrange. It is anrother story with a stock cam and stock head.

 

i dont know how high mine revs ... it always shows scrambled numbers for my highest rpm value... does the redline box do anything for timing?

 

No redline box does nothing for timing. The Redline box basically takes over control of the VP injection pump not the ECM.. Thats why it is so violent...

So........do you guys have upgraded springs? I'd be careful of winding it out so high, these motors aren't totally indestructable.

 

I have to Competition built Ported and Polished head.

 

I still have stock springs and bridges. So my time is prolly limited unless i'm lucky and let me tell ya , i have no luck. But I only do it when I pull

 

ive got a ported head with 80 pound springs... push tubes, adjusters, and a camshaft... all from scheid

On my stock except Smarty, it pulls to about 3100 before the tranny shifts but it does feel like it falls off.
