4.5 Skyjacker lift (Different Post)
I'm about to purchase my 4.5" Skyjacker lift. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or advise on which 4.5" lift from Skyjacker to get? I was looking on their website at their lifts for 96 3500's and they had about 12 of them. I have a tow package on my truck and some of the kits asked about tow packages but I don't ever really tow so I don't know the importance of getting a kit with a "tow package". I just know that the way my truck handle right now with the old factory suspension is really rough and all the bushing and need replacing as well as the shocks etc. I just want something that rides better as well as the lift. Any ideas would be great. Thanks in advance.

Also, I'm going to buying and using the Skyjacker 2"-7" adjustable track bar. I was wondering if I need to buy the drop bracket also or is that just for reusing a stock track bar with a lift? and the adjustable track bar is already ready for use with the lift...?

MY BIGGEST SUGGESTION...
I have the SKYJACKER and it is a good kit... If you go that route go with the trackbar but one thing of serious note...
You think it is rough now???
Now for the suggestion...
Spend a bit more and put the kelderman air ride on the truck, get the lift, get more tow capacity, and ride like a Cadillac!

More money but it is well worth it IMO...

I think the major differences are what they call single flex and double flex.
Single flex will have one heim joint on the control arm ends,
double flex will have a heim on both ends.
This allows the front axle to flex more.
IMHO, if you're not rock crawling, you don't need these.
The Cummins is a wee bit heavy to be rock crawling anyway.
The other differences are in the rear springs they supply with the kits.
Different heights, different rates, overloads, no overloads, etc.
Different combinations of the above result in the 12 or more "kits".
I just got the Add-A-Leaf for the rear, the short stiff one,
wish I would have known better to request the long, less stiff one.
My rear suspension is pretty stiff and harsh.
On an older truck, it might be worth it to get the new rear spring packs, as your stock ones have probably settled a bit, more if you've towed or had a lot in the bed.

Just got mine back from the shop Saturday. 4 Wheel Parts di the install. I called Skyjacker, and they were very helpful.
I went with the 4.5" lift, standard kit, class II. Do not get the flex packages unless your rig is only for off road. The double shocks up front on mine are great!
Also, I did get their adjustable trac bar and double steering stabilizer. With the 35" SSR's I am a happy dude!

While everyone is perusing this post.
Does anyone happen to know how tight the control arm bolts should be torqued?
My passenger side, lower arm, is loose where it mounts to the frame.
All the other arms are solid, no movement at all
(except the way they are supposed to move )
but the loose one moves side to side about 1/8 of an inch.
Can't get it to move back/forth with my hands, but I bet if I chocked that wheel and pushed/pulled the truck I'd see it move.
I am hearing a "thunk" when backing up (out of a parking stall) and applying the brakes.
It sounded like it was coming from the passenger side front, so I started wiggling things.
Been doing it for a couple of weeks, but I don't usually pull in to spots forward, so I don't hear it much..
I can grab the arm, and it makes the same "thunk" as it moves.
Oh, would the Skyjacker arms require different torque?
I would think it would be the same as stock.
I think I have a year warranty on the parts, maybe 6 months on the labor, and I got it in March.
thanx
