3K GSK adjustment?

I have a 3k gsk, I was wondering how do you know it's set right? I have had it for a while, but till friday I have not been able to really lay into the throttle. (Have new tranny) It shifts around 28-2900 and I have noticed the idle has been dropping. Is it alright to presume the gsk has backed off some since i had it put in(may have never been set right). Now I have a new tranny, i'm going to move my plate forward, and thought I might need to adjust the springs in the gov. So, which direction does turning the springs do what? Need some advice.

if the idle is high you're to tight if you dont get the full effect of the rpm increase then you're to loose if set right then the idle will be the same as stock you shouldnt have to adjust it.

........whew..... must have got it right. I was kinda sweating that one - I haven't got to drive it since the work was done.

Hubby hooked it to the trailer and I haven't got my hands on it since!
