35# boost bad

ok i just added my gauges and advanced my timing to 15.5* and ground a #100 plate....actually josh peters did most of the work thanks again josh.....ok my question is now with the gauges i see that my turbo can hit 35# boost is that bad for my head gasket and my stock turbo i also have the waist gate clamped off so if it is bad i can always re open that.

Hey early 2nd Gen guys, what turbo is on texas's truck?

If it's an HX35, but I doubt it is, 35psi is the limit. Your head gasket will be just fine with that. What you are looking for is the maximum efficiency of the turbo. With the HX35 the max is between 34psi-36psi, any more than that and you are over speeding the turbo and also creating hot air instead of cool air (relative term, IAT is generally around 130*F).

Find out what turbo you have, the max efficient boost for that model, and set the wastegate there and you will be all set.

35psi is the outer limit of the HX35 map. If that's what you're getting at max load, I'd say you're alright. Anything higher is overspeeding the turbo. If (when) you add more fuel, you'll need to re-enable that wastegate.

1994 trucks have WH1C's. 95-98 12 valves all had HX35's.

i know that going over 35-36# on stock turob is just hot air and i knew i did not want any more then 35# what i really wanted to know is if not leting my WG function and letting it hit 35# if i was going to hurt anything mainly my head gasket

It is really hard to give a definite answer to that question.
It will probably go a long time without any problems.

I'm running a little more advance timing and could hit 40 psi boost. I exceeded the head gasket smoking out a jerk that cut me off.

we broke 2 HX35 turbos on one truck in a very short time... i doubt we went over 35 psi...

a friend of mine made 38 psi w the stock hx35 on a 96 dodge manual. Bot only 4 a few days...and he blew that 1. now running a HT3B really cool!
