2wd 2 inch leveling kit
2wd 2 inch leveling kit
All,
I just recently put a full replacement bumper on my truck and it sits way too low on the front. i jacked the front up and took some measurements and came up with a 2 inch lift in front looked good. i installed the 2 inch spacers on the front and now it is slightly higher in the front than in the back. before i put the lift on my truck rode smooth and handled great. now it sems pretty rough in the front but handles the same. any idea on how to make it ride a little smoother and bring the front down a hair? i have been told that it will eventually settle in the front but i cant see how it will smooth out. it seems to hit pretty hard on bumps instead of smooth bounce. would shocks help this? my truck has 95,000 miles on it and only thing that has been worked on is the ball joints on the front end. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

Mine did the same thing, new shocks should fix it. They're probably out of travel.
what not to get...
Hey there,
I did a 2.5" 'leveling spacer' from daystar on my 2wd... Looks great, and after I put the 2" add-aleaves in the back I was able to align the truck back to factory tolerances (without the rear lift it threw out the caster really bad... and then they couldn't align the camber so there was no point in worrying about the toe)... ANYWAY... to your question... I got the Heckethorn Rough Country Nitro 9000 shocks for my truck and it rides like a jackhammer on smooth roads... They are definitely an OFF-ROAD shock... I don't notice huge pothles at all... it just makes a lot of noise when I hit them but the ride is smooth as glass.... but on regular highway riding I notice every crack in the cement. SO... unless you're riding on washboards all day I'd stay away from these shocks.
I hear that the billsteins are worth their weight in gold... but they're about $100 a piece at most places... I got the shocks I have for $120 for all 4... I guess I got what i paid for...
