Question ?????12v and 24v cams?????

Well I just bought a mechanical lift pump, and p7100 "914" pump , and am now looking into putting a 12v cam in my 24v for the p-pump conversion and was wandering if this would work is there a difference in the 2, other than the lobe for the mech. lift pump.

Thanks
Jake

I'm sure someone knows the specifics, but the 12v and 24v valve events aren't the same. You'll want a cam for a 24v with the 12v mechanical fuel pump drive lobe.

brandon.

I think F-1 diesel has the 24 cam with the fuel pump lobe on it.

What the heck is a "914?" Do you mean "913?"

I'd talk to F1 about the cam!

The 12v cam in a 24v motor will work if you time the cam correctly...... But it would be better and easier to install a F1 Helix cam. The cams come with a mechanical fuel pump lobe on them. You can find a description of the cams offered here: http://www.performancedieselwarehouse.com/850869.html

Does the 24 valve still have the mount on the block for a mechanical lift pump? I wasn't aware that it did.

Pumps with numbers ending with 913 and up are the stronger of the 215 hp pumps.

Im not looking to spend that kind of money for the f1 cam right now, maybe later.

When you install the mechanical lift pump, don't forget that there is a .200 spacer between the pump and the block. It makes short work of the pump to forget the spacer.

Sounds like I should've done a bit more research before I bought my 913

I don't remember the spacer on my 1996 12v when I replaced the LP. Does this apply to the 24v blocks only?

Now I need to run out and look for a spacer LOL

I dunno.

I'm pretty sure that the mech LP mount is there on all blocks up until the HPCR trucks.

The HPCR blocks don't have the boss for the mech LP.

The 12 valve trucks used the fuel heater bracket as the spacer. It bolts on there before the lift pump.
