Wood stove

Anyone ever use one of these and are they worth the money? My stove has a blower but there is a huge amount of heat in the stove pipe.

They are good in theory; but, the dis-advantages out-weigh the extra heat gain.

We installed one, many years ago, identical to the one in the picture.

Tons of heat came out of it.

The problem is, this loss of flue heat causes draft problems, and premature flue blockage.

A hot flue will be a clean flue.

This is the same reason that so-called underwriters lab approved automatic stoves are notorious house-burners; they lose all the heat in the stove, so the chimney is cold, causing rapid blockage, then flue fire.

Also, the little tubes in the pipe mounted unit will soon deteriorate, especially from one season until the next.
