Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom Teeth
I had my top two wisdom teeth pulled this morning. I had the bottom two pulled about ten years ago. So far the pain isn't too bad. We shall see though.
How many still have em, and for the ones that don't how old were you when they were pulled?
I was 20 when they pulled the bottoms, I'm now thirty.

Don't ask chaikwa ........ J/K
I had mine out when I was 18. Took all 4 and two of them had to be broke into 4 pieces to get them out. I did it all with local anesthetic. No real pain but I did have one dry socket that needed to be fixed about 3 days after. Chipmunk cheeks for about 24 hours and after that I was good to go.

My wisdom teeth were a lot like yours rockcrawler. One came right out, 2 had to be fractured multiple times to get them out and the 4th is still there because the doctor said it was wrapped around a sinus nerve and I could lose my sense of taste or smell, which might make me lose my sense of humor. I had intravenous Valium when mine were done... best experience I ever had! Saw pink elephants on the ceiling and yellow frogs on the floor!

I had mine pulled at age 20, now 26. All for at the same time, two were growing in sidewaysand had to be busted apart, the other two came out. I was knocked out for it, and they gave me some good stuff afterwards for the pain. After mine were taken out I stopped having headaches.
dentist says i am one in a million (i do remind my husband of that)
born without wisdom teeth. despite those that have talked with me, i have a small mouth, no room .
and I am still samrt, sart, smtra, smart- yeah, that's it!

Got mine done when I was 21 while in the Marines, and that was 15 years ago.
All four were impacted so I had scheduled the oral surgery with Dental, but one of them became abscessed and burst open on me one morning while I was brushing my teeth. Worst experience of my life, ever .... and I won't go into details other than to say it was incredibly gross. Google it if you want to see an example, but I warned you. 40 minutes later I'm out of emergency surgery and on Percocet for a week.
Had the other three done about 2 months later, and was a completely opposite experience. Far less pain, faster recovery, and I can actually remember that week of being off versus the 7 day blackout from the first time round.

All 4 of mine when I was 20. Guy had a deal that looked like a teaspoon. Just a couple of shots on each side and 30 minutes later I was on my way home. The guy next to me wasn't so lucky, he was there before and after me having his out. Dentist said it was because he was being such a big baby about it.

Had mine out about 5 years ago. Horrible experience.
The consult......
Oral surgeon looks at x-rays and says "oooooo, those are some really long and curved roots. We'll have to split the teeth and pull them in pieces."
I say "OK" kinda figured that that's why I wen to an "Oral Surgeon". I opted for a local.
The operation....
Oral surgeon come in and give me a local no problem. Says he'll be back in a bit. I close my eyes and doze for a bit. O.S. comes back after a while and says to the assistant, "I think I'll just try to pull them first."
Say what?
He then proceeds to shove a large pair of lineman's pliers in my mouth (uncomfortable) and pull. No dice tooth won't budge, so he grabs a pry bar that appears to be about 2' long, works it under the pliers (definitely less than comfortable)and tried to pry/pull it out. Still no movement. Next comes out the surgical milk crate for the O/S to stand on for a bit of leverage.
and the assistant gets to hold my head like a football so it doesn't move.
After that doesn't work he decides that he may need to split the tooth to get it out.
He whips out the drill and commences to drilling the tooth in half with a dull bit. I'm pretty sure my 4yo fisher price drill set had better bits than this guy. He gets it about halfway done and out come the lineman's pliers again and the O/O says "you might hear a loud crack". One loud crack later he continues with the pliers to "extract" the pieces. Pretty sure I swallowed a gallon of blood while this happened.
Next he stitches me up and gives me some "Vitamin M" for the discomfort.
2 days later I'm back in his office with a terrible headache. Dry socket, no problem. He packs it and all is better. Near instant relief. 3 days later headache is back. O/S says that's impossible after this long. I say pack it again. Near instant relief.
A week later the the headaches are bearable so I tough it out and vow never to see that O/S again. I also tell anyone who asks how bad he was.

The first two i had taken 10 years ago were so so. One pulled right out, the other had to be broke in 4 pieces. I was awake with just a local.
The two yesterday were alot easier, hooked me up to an IV and a few minutes later I was out. I was at the OS' office less than 45 mins.

the army did one of mine when i was 19, now 23 and the other three need to come out soon. i asked them to take them all out at once, they told me no. i get headaches all the time. hopefully it will help. when they took out the first one they used wht looked an awful lot like a craftsman screwdriver to pry with and a cheapo pair of pliers to pull. no to comfy.
Mine came in when I was 18, Dentist said they would be rotten in 5 years, and rather than go thru the pain of letting them come in, he would pull them.
Didn't happen, and good lord willing, won't.
