Apparently his tour bus was pulled over for inspection and the officer "smelled the strong odor of marijuana." As open as he is about it I'm kinda surprised he doesn't get busted more.

The story in the news wasn't quite accurate.
Once the bus door opened, it actually took about 5 minutes before the smoke cleared enough to recognize Willie. Cop says, "you been smokin' Willie?"
"Nope, this here's a diesel, that just unused HP you're a smellin'"
"Here's your sign..."

This happened to Willie a number of years ago as well. Cop pulls Willie's bus over, BANG, Willie gets ticked for possesion. Willie tried to argue that the cop had no probable cause to pull him over! HELLO
