I just looked it up. It should be a A500.
It was used behind 318's So it should work fine if you build it right.
Trans-go shift kits are available.
Good clutches and bands, raised line pressure. (Shift kit does this)

The a-500 is based on a 904/999 TF auto. Most of the tranny shops that can build a performance 3-speed can also beef up your a-500.

I recommend Frank Lupo and the guys at Pro-formance Transmissions/Dynamic converters.

I'd just built it and try it!!
A lot of old cop cars--I've been told--- used them with 318's.
The 518 will bolt up to the transfer case, but the main case is longer so you will have to mod something.
Better clutches, higher line pressure is most of it.

TCI makes a complete kit with gaskets, seals, clutches, steels, forward bands, adjustable modulator, high volume filter and Trans-Scat valve body modifications, and a drain plug kit for $270 bucks. do yall thinks its worth it?

Tci------------------- well my experience is not good.
you can do better.
Contact Transtar.
Ask TCI what the part number for a modulator on a dodge is.
Dodge doesn't use them!!
I bet you can buy a rebuild kit for less than $200
