Angry Well,,, phu E

September has started out as bad as August was. Still under a flood evacuation advisory until Sunday. My nice pretty new lawn is being dug up because the septic tank needs to be replaced. A replacement won't be available until after the holiday so I'm back to using the honey bucket again. The stove broke. Had to fix that. Wind blew the main power lines down for the are. Had to break out the Buddy heater. Then to add insult to injury, snow halfway down the mountain. The 1st gen is still broke. Too many necessities getting in the way, like my truck isn't one of them.

Sheesh cougar, if you did not have such bad luck, you would have no luck at all. Hope things turn around for you soon and that light you see at the end of this bad luck tunnel is not another train on the same track as you.

We have a saying here in Alaska. The light at the end of the tunnel is Whittier. Worse than a train. A dirty, nasty little town on the Pacific coast. At two and a half miles long, the only reason the tunnel exists is because of the deep-water seaport with train access.

A week has gone by with a big hole in my front yard. The excavation company says, "we'll get around to it". So, I have been without proper sanitation sense May and basically the last month without. I hate dealing with lawyers, but it looks like I've been given no choice. Fall is in full swing, and the snow line is getting closer.

I just fired the excavation contractor and threw the responsibility to complete the job back onto the pumping company that contracted with them. The pumping company is fed up with them also and said they will complete the job themselves by this weekend. In the meantime, the river level has come down along with the snow level. Still raining but may get a few days this week without.

FINALLY! Tank was installed yesterday. They showed up late and finished by 9PM. So nice to be able to bathe (which was the first thing I did) and not have to sit on a bucket. These tanks are supposed to last at least 20 years, this one was toast at 15. Got my 1st gen back into operation. A few accessories to finish, but nothing to keep me from using it.

Not in the yard yet, but I have seen a few stray snowflakes fall. Overnight temps getting close to freezing, 34° this AM. No rain for today. Think I'll do a little smithing while the wife does her combat shopping.

Unfortunately, misery rarely travels alone. Sounds like things are turning around, less Autumn's arrival.

Hang in there,

Kurt

We have had frost every morning now. Forecast models indicate snow on the ground possible after the 30th. Which is about a month early historically. Usually, if we get an early snow, we get little to none the rest of the winter. Just very cold temperatures instead.

snow yet?

I think I'd rather have little to no snow, and cold temps, than feet of snow.

Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you, Cougar

Not yet, but it looks like next Thursday the 5th is most promising. More rain today then clear and cold Tuesday and Wednesday, below freezing overnight into the morning. Winter storm watches and warnings for areas East of us through Tuesday.

Snow on the ground over night as expected. Not going to last long, too warm and too much wind. Did get all my tires changed over.
