Problem is I'm in the loser's column.
I was riding along at the speed limit of 60MPH and along side comes this older model Chevy wrecker. The kind that had the extended lower front grille, I'm thinking like a 2000 or something model.
We ride along for a while and I look over and he's giving me the old one finger salute and then grins mouthing that he was just playing.
So he points let's go. He mashed this thing and walked off on me with no mercy. HE HAD A 4DR CADDY ON THE HOOK!!!!
I was up to about 90 now and I couldn't even tell it was a Caddy anymore he was so far in front of me.
I just cannot believe it. He was flying!

Once upon a few years ago, I ran across a company who ran 3500HD chevy 4x4's with 11' mechanic's boxes, tiger cranes, and compressors on them.
The secret to these particular trucks, was the 502/502 Gm crate engines under the hood, with a little bottle of horsepower in the front cabinet of the service body, under the toolbox slide tray.
These were excellent trucks, although not light, they had more jam than any truck I had ever ridden in. And the guys who drove them occasionally had to show the ricers and hot rodders what real power was about.
Moral of the story is, just because its a work truck, does not mean its slow.

I'm pretty sure it was gas. I didn't see any markings on the hood like those older ones had. It wasn't the proper year to be anywhere close to a Dmax.
This truck would have given a vette a run for its money.
I was driving what is normally a very quick Dodge w/auto.

Sure it wasn't a modded 454? My dad bought a truck many moons ago that was a 77 (bought it in 81 or so), it had been used for high school rodeo rig for a girl and a race car hauler. While a race car hauler anything that went bad or didn't run right got a "performance" part. This thing had hemi pistons. Don't know how the automatic kept together but my dad said that even with 1,000 pounds on the nose of a fairly heavy gooseneck, if you didn't ease very carefully on the fuel pedal you could look in the mirrors and see smoke coming out from under the dual fenders. This truck had 350,000 miles on it when he sold it. When it ran as a rodeo rig the odometer was unhooked for an estimated 100,000 miles.
