More Thai influence, I like it that way. A man can have his rear end handed to him for 4 five minute rounds, then wham, boom! 5 seconds of a Arm bar and it's all over.

Anyone else's wife or Girlfriend rather watch paint dry then two men savagely beat each other?

It wasn't the Arm bar, what happened was Gracie rolled over on his stomach and that is when Hughes started beating the heck out of his head and they stopped it. Gracie did not tap out.

he was hitting him on each side of his head. there were no blows to the back of the head.Gracie couldn't do anything because Hughes was beating the living crap out of him Gracie didn't have a chance.

I never understood the attraction of watching two grown men try to beat each other senseless for the crowd's amusement.

Oh wait,.......this has been done before.......

Different strokes........

Shovel, you and my wife would get along great (you like Lifetime? ) Like you said, different strokes. About 10 years ago I saw one of the original UFC tapes, back when it was pretty much illegal. It literally made me sick to my stomach, I had to leave the room (real tough guy, huh?)

Seriously though, this "new" ultimate fighting is very technical. I am a lover of all that is at it's simplest. These guys (most of them) are in top form, many years of training and months of conditioning can go into one bout.

Boxing used to be that way, now with three different federations and the corruption that goes with it, Id rather watch UFC (or the up and comming IFL).

It's channel 34 here in the Arlington, Virginia cable area.

Check www.spiketv.com to see where it might be in your area.

I can't stand UFC.

Regular boxing is a very entertaining thing to watch occasionally; UFC simply strikes me to the point of being brutal to the point of disturbing-ness.

I want to see somebody get their butt beaten the man-o-on-mano, shot-for-shot way, not the "I trup u down an' pumul yer hed in till yu di" way.

Now, maybe if they had a Ladies-in-Lingerie-UFC, it might be... Nah, nevermind.

Come on guys. Noone makes these guys fight. This is their chosen sport and they excel at it. When the bout is over, they compliment one another and await the descision...after which the loser usually compliments the winner AGAIN! Show me sportsmanlike conduct like that in todays "mainstream" sports...just my 2 cents...

I have nothing but respect for the guys that do it, and it's obviously highly competitive, but so is **** fighting and bear baiting.

I just find it too brutal. Give me good clean boxing match any day.
