so these things are supposed to twist and apply a certain ammount of torque to wheel studs. frankly i think they don't work at all. but they do twist!!!

They are meant to be used with an impact gun, not with a power bar. I don't own a set, but I've used them and was fairly impressed with their accuracy. What did you have it attached to when it broke?

basically, the idea behind the Torque Stick system, is to make wheel nut torque procedures " Idiot Proof ". It is then left up to the rest of us to " Improve the idiot "

They are meant to be used with impact tools, and in a nutshell, when you are rattling away on your wheel nuts, instead of getting them way too tight, risking broken studs, the torque stick simply goes " dead " absorbing all of the hammer and twist that the impact gun is putting on.

I have used them on OTR trucks, with a nut rating of 450 and 500 lbs, and they work like a charm, usually within 1- 2%. and normally that is to the low side. which is good, because ALL wheel nuts should get their final torque from a properly calibrated torque wrench.

Neat tools for sure though, and they do save some time, as well as making it hard to overtorque. Worth the price for most places.

The torque sticks for automotive applications are supposed to be used with an impact gun calibrated to 250#' of torque, if you use them with a gun that is set higher then throw the torque spec out the window.
